She makes Caleb, who has already professed his feelings for her, keep coming to her bakery three days a week to prove that he really does love her—because the month of dating and conversations and sex before that didn’t say as much? Many thanks to NetGalley and Berkley Publishing for sharing this lovely book's digital reviewer copy with me in exchange for my honest opinions. I'll probably go back and listen to book 2 if I can find it on Libby so I can see what Beckett and Evie have to offer.

Pretty sure Pippa narrated Lovelight Farms too, and she did a fine job as Layla, but not her male voices. mixed signals is the third book in the series and it features layla, our favorite baker, and caleb, the human personification of the sun. Caleb is what makes this particular book over-the-top special though; he’s just such a good guy, and a true cinnamon roll with a little bite in the bedroom. At the start of the book Layla runs into Caleb and she finally, FINALLY, notices him and is flabbergasted at how suddenly attractive he was. As for Caleb, I don't even know where to start, because he might have ruined me for all other book boyfriends. This confident, independent businesswoman who has had the courage and hope to date a series of not-Mr-Rights, who stands up to her family when they don’t understand her decisions, who has been dating and having sex with a super-hot guy really nice guy, suddenly has no confidence in herself.

I read the first two on Kindle Unlimited but missed the boat on this one as they were picked up by a traditional publisher and removed from the platform. Borison is the author of cozy, contemporary romances featuring emotionally vulnerable characters and swoon-worthy settings. As the two share their dating woes, Caleb reveals that he often gets ahead of himself in relationships. However, when his loyal men, the Iron Dogs, come to him with stories of how they are being hunted down and picked off, Hugh finds a spark of .I sigh and glance over his shoulder at the bar, trying to catch the eye of our beleaguered waitress. I don't usually come this far out for a date, but Bryce had been insistent about trying a new tiki bar right on the coast. Becs' gift for settling into and bearing out the quiet, tender beauty of every day existence, the small-town charm of life in Inglewild, the depth of friendship and love that's built this found family community surrounding its main characters, shines. Bartenders move back and forth behind a small row boat that's been flipped over and converted into bench seating.

But with that said, I think all of the dates made the book really fun and entertaining - and even though I wasn’t personally very into it, I think the characters did have solid chemistry… so again, maybe it was a case of right book/wrong time, maybe it wasn’t. Arrangement or no, everything I’ve felt with you, everything I’ve said to you—” He shakes his head slightly, that smile finally tripping from his eyes to the curve of his cheeks. When Caleb asks her to help him improve his dating skills by giving her amazing dates, she decides it is the perfect way to recharge her energies. Yeah they had good chemistry, but I did not care for how the ending of the no strings dating played out. The only downsides were the inevitable conflict at the end, which was a bit meh and the repetitive descriptions of Layla tasting/smelling like sugar, strawberries, champagne, peaches etc-it gave me toothache! I absolutely ADORED her connection with Caleb, from the Hawaiian shirt through their dates, and even her confused feelings (they broke my heart, but I understood her as a character, so I never felt like the conflict was forced).

A small-town baker learns to raise her expectations for love with some help from a handsome local teacher in this sunny romantic comedy. They come up with an "arrangement" to date each other so they can figure out what they are doing wrong. I loved Caleb and Layla in the previous stories, but I was not prepared for the total swoonfest that was them together. He and Layla were the cutest couple I’ve ever read about; with their agreement, their jokes and the way the slowly learned to trust each other and fall in love without realising it. Lovelight Farms and In the Weeds were charming and sweet with a slow burn as we got to know the characters and the town with a cast of quirky townsfolk.
