About this Review: This review is my honest opinion of the sleeping bag, which I purchased with my own money in June of 2022. For side-sleepers desiring warmth with practical comfort, the Forte Men's 20° Endless Promise sleeping bag really delivers - a unique design to see you through cooler weather camping and backpacking trips, and alpine treks.All that said, most sleeping bags are not 100% true to their temperature ratings, so the Forte 35 does pretty well. They've both spent the better part of the last two decades in the backcountry, developing the expertise to evaluate all sorts of outdoor gear. Right at the top of the bag you've got an integrated pocket which allows a jacket, extra clothes or a pillow to be stuffed inside for extra comfort. The women’s version of the Forte bag has a comfort rating of 20 degrees Fahrenheit, and the men’s is rated at 32 degrees, so as long as the temperature is above that lower limit, you should sleep comfortably through the night.
Car campers shouldn't worry about weight and will appreciate the features that make the camping experience more comfortable, even if they add ounces. Therefore, getting a bag that compresses smaller is a good way to reduce the size and overall burden load. As part of Nemo's first Endless Promise product, the Forte series is 100% recyclable using recycled fabric and insulation. They're not necessary for a summer backpacking sleeping bag, but we like to see them on bags with 20°F ratings and below.It packs small, and the weight makes it excellent for summer backpacking or nearly year-round camping (with extra blankets, of course!
A fabric set of bluesign® approved 30D 100% recycled polyester ripstop and 20D 100% recycled polyester taffeta offers a buttery-soft, ultra-plush sleep experience. Therefore using a quality sleep mat will ensure you are properly insulated from the cold ground, and you will be a lot more comfortable. That said, when it got down to 35 degrees I did use the hood, and when fully cinched it worked well, but there wasn’t a good medium setting. It provides solid loft and heat for a synthetic material, is water resistant, and packs down quite small.But it’s not a panacea because it’s not paired with a stiffener along the draft tube, something the bag should have anyway. Of course, this makes naming conventions more difficult, as most sleeping bags have a specific temperature as part of their name. I took the NEMO Fillo backpacking pillow on this trip, and while it was better than other air pillows I’ve tried, in the end I didn’t use it.
