Regarding the comparison, it smells similar and it's good but it is weaker and doesn't last as long, likely because of the restrictions on oakmoss. Top notes are Coriander, Green Notes, Brazilian Rosewood, Bergamot and Lemon; middle notes are Rose, Carnation, Geranium, Lily-of-the-Valley, Jasmine and Orris Root; base notes are Oakmoss, Civet, Patchouli, Vetiver, Sandalwood and Amber.

my father had a bottle of this perfume and I still remember the air changed every time he sprayed it on him. Just smell Clinique’s classic woman’s perfume, Aromatics Elixir, and you’ll see what I mean: it was also created by Bernard Chant and to many people smells identical to Aramis 900. It does hark back to the original Aramis and has a slight herbal base note, the top notes are citrus very lemon and bergamot with the middle and base notes holding the rose. The fragrance is heavy on the rose (VERY HEAVY) so keep in mind you have to be comfortable with it, after an hour or so the blend then get less rosy to bring out those animalic and herbal notes, civet is up there too, without being skanky but truly noticable, again, some might not like that. A civet accord (or more often accent) wasn't always meant to be aggressively animalic to begin with and is poorly understood.A floral outpouring (oh my) that even knocks Geoffrey Beene's fabled Grey Flannel out of its unused bower. While both are floral/herbal chypres, AE is much stronger and potentially off-putting, yet is the version sold to women. However, in the future, before making cologne purchases, I am going to inquire about the lot or batch number so that I am certain that the cologne still has shelf life left. Projection ("silage") is moderate, though I didn't apply much, and longevity seems at least very good. Will be using this fragrance quite a bit from now on and confident knowing that there aren’t many others that will be doing the same….
