About this deal

After I got it registered and connected, the data shown was still incorrect and British Gas couldn't care less. Before I purchased it I did a compatibility check which said my smart S1 meter was compatible (Secure Liberty 100) but wondering if that is the problem.

NOTE: if you need to change the tariff, the tariff you enter on the app does NOT appear on the smart in house display. It is not our intention to shift the blame towards your energy supplier, but we are simply providing an explanation as to how the smart metering network works. Worse is that E-on recommended the IVIE Bud device so you think that this app could pull the data through from the device to fill in any of the missing data that the app itself couldn’t record - sounds simple to me when you have that hardware + app combo. When you know how much energy you’re using at any given time, or while doing different tasks, you can figure out where to cut back. I’m afraid I can’t risk having users break their stuff and complaining about not being able to fix it because they don't know what they just did.

Crazy to think that this service is recommended by E-on yet I’ve not had a complete monthly report on energy usage since November. Upon checking the status of your ivie Bud activation, we're glad to learn that you have successfully completed the activation now, and the issue has been resolved. Lastly, we'd like to clarify that we don't charge any ongoing fees or subscriptions beyond the one-time payment for purchasing the ivie Bud.The physical display is connected to the house smart meters and wifi and is showing gas and electricity power and energy. The only workaround is to use an IHD that comes from your energy supplier as these can be paired without internet access.

Well, it appears it 'can' be added to smartthings (as a Chameleon smart meter), and it does show up as a Smart Meter in devices, and its connected, but its showing 0kWh for the last two days. But anyway, it's much easier to just use your supplier already configured IHD, than useless Wifi/Cloud IHD which won’t allow to act as a CAD. Regarding the issue you experienced with your smart gas meter and the ivie Bud, we would like to clarify that our device successfully connected to your smart meter. untethered charger is controlled with the ivie Charge app for smart charging that works around your schedule.Octopus Energy told us that it can always solve issues with in-home displays (IHDs), even if they were provided by another supplier. It is now right next to my Wi-Fi router, which initially when I reconnected was full signal now it is back to fluctuating between 2 and 3 bars.

I decided to move to ivie because had online monitoring, but that's only if you are lucky enough to activate it. In the UK, the optical port is also disabled for security reasons as well while the meter is in the field. What you are after is an in home display, and yes, unfortunately BG are correct - the displays are a gimmick, and only supplied with the initial installation. I think they won't have worked further than that, until someone realize they need to add lookup by MPAN on https://ivie.

Converting cubic metres to kilowatt hours for gas metering purposes is complicated and varies based on a lot of factors. Unfortunately, we do not have the same level of access to your smart meters the same way your energy supplier does. Was looking forward to being able to view and better understand my energy use, but this app is as useful as a chocolate fire guard. It’s a delightful little fable about a postman who ends up stationed so far to the north that he meets a reclusive toymaker there named Klaus.
