About this deal

When we had the TV fully set up on the stand, with screws fastened as tight as possible, there was still a reasonable amount of wobble to the TV. It wasn’t as bad as the Sony X950H that we lambasted last year for its shakiness, but it’s still much less stable than we’d like. Of course, we can only speak about the 65-inch version of the TV that we had in for testing – the 55-inch TV might be totally fine with its lower weight and center of gravity. Samsung produces four versions of OTS – OTS Lite, OTS, OTS+ and OTS Pro – and each uses a more complex arrangement of speakers. The 50in QN90 reviewed here uses OTS Lite, which delivers stereo audio via two physical speakers at the bottom of the screen. The same is true of Pan, where the QN90A handles the film’s deliberately exaggerated pictures with no evidence of clipping. This shows HDR10 content is being accurately tone-mapped, thus retaining the original creative intent. The Samsung QN90A also decodes HDR10+ content such as Alita: Battle Angel correctly, retaining all the detail in the shadows and bright highlights.

As you’d hope with a flagship QLED TV, the QN90B’s colours are possessed of a thrilling vibrancy. The TV’s got a slight preponderance towards red that’s not entirely accurate but that really does make images pop and isn’t so exaggerated as to make movies look unrealistic. What’s more, the Samsung’s vibrancy doesn’t come at the cost of subtlety or nuance, with less vivid shades being calmly expressed and blended. With current-gen consoles and the introduction of the HDMI 2.1 standard, gaming has turned into a battleground where TV manufacturers look to appeal to the twitchiest of gaming fingers. In summary, those looking for a premium performance at a compact size should seriously consider the QN90B. If it’s a bright, vibrant and exciting delivery you're after (and/or you’re going to be using your TV in a very bright room), this Samsung QLED could well be a better buy than one of its new OLED rivals. LG has been, more or less, the first to integrate gaming tech. But not too far behind is Samsung, and while its TVs don’t boast as wide a breadth of features, their sets are speedy for response times. Assembly is simple and the overall quality of construction speaks to Samsung’s high standards. 43-inch TVs aren’t often as well built as this one is. Interface The QE43QN90A’s connections are similar to its bigger siblings with 4x HDMI (3x 2.0, 1x 2.1), Ethernet, optical, a CI+ 1.4 connection, 2 x satellite tuners, an aerial and two USB 2.0 ports. With only one HDMI 2.1 port, there’s just a single slot for either an eARC supporting soundbar or game console which is a pity but not surprising at the size. Wirelessly, there’s Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi. Picture quality

We corrected a mistake in the image processing of the reflections photos. This error only impacted the published photo, and no changes were made to the score or results. There are also two USB 2.0 ports, twin tuners for terrestrial and satellite broadcasts, a Common Interface slot, an optical digital output and an Ethernet port. In terms of wireless connections, there’s Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and support for Apple AirPlay 2. The good news is that you can actually go in and tweak the judder and stutter individually through Samsung’s picture settings and we highly recommend doing so.Compatible with Apple TV+, Google Play Movies & TV, Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, SHOWTIME, Sling TV, YouTube, and many more. It wouldn’t be a smart TV without a dollop of digital assistants: Alexa, Google and Bixby are accounted for. Given the gaming focus, this 43-inch model has the Super UltraWide Game View that stretches the image to 21:9 and 32:9 ratios, useful for PC warriors who want a wider perspective. We tested the TV with the PS5's new variable refresh rate (VRR) feature and confirmed that it's working properly. Since the PS5 only supports HDMI Forum VRR, this also confirmed that the TV supports that type of VRR. Quantum Mini LED, Quantum HDR 1500, Quantum Matrix Technology, Wide Viewing Angle, Ultimate UHD Dimming Beyond traditional ports, the Samsung QN90A Neo QLED TV sports built-in NextGen TV ATSC 3.0 tuners. In locations where the emerging broadcasting technology is available, ATSC 3.0 can support 4K picture over-the-air as well as a return channel that allows for interactivity and targeted advertising. Samsung QN90A Neo QLED TV review: Performance

The QN90A’s user interface is powered by Tizen, a Linux-based, open-source operating system. It’s among the better smart TV platforms out there and is responsive, intuitive and easy to navigate. The interface features a launcher bar along the bottom of the screen, along with a second layer that provides faster access to the various streaming services and applications on offer. We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for two months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. The Samsung QN90A’s 10-bit panel supports HDR and, while not as impressive as the higher-end Neo QLED models, does deliver measurements comparable with some OLED TVs. Peak brightness hits 750cd/m² in Dynamic Mode on a 10% window, and although the more accurate Filmmaker Mode maxes out at 650cd/m², this can be delivered on a full field white pattern.Just when Samsung found its stride with QLED, keeping up the capabilities of its OLED competitors, it innovated the heart of its product with an all-new panel —a panel that actually showcased improvements in our testing. It also reminded QLED alternatives it’s still the company to beat. Available in panel sizes from 43 "to a whopping 98 ", Samsung 's QE-QN90A features HDR and Neo QLED technology, an evolution of the QLED with which other top-of-the-range TVs such as the acclaimed Samsung QE-Q90T are equipped. This means it offers brilliant colours and perfect image clarity. The panel boasts advanced technologies such as Quantum Mini LED, Quantum Matrix Technology and Ultimate UHD Dimming , which adapts the display to the lighting conditions in the room. These advanced features also allow the device to provide a good gaming experience. Extensive Connectivity
