About this deal

A thriller writer has been accused of running an online smear campaign". independent.co.uk. Archived from the original on 25 May 2022 . Retrieved 16 September 2018. Before reading Nightfall, I'd heard of Stephen Leather but hadn't read any of his books. I'm glad that this was my first one, because I really enjoyed it. While reading the sample, I thought that this is my kind of book. It had a dark, twisted, jaded protagonist with some great sarcastic humor. I immediately bought the book. It took some time, but I finally got around to reading it.

Note: Confessions of a Bangkok Private Eye is co-authored with Warren Olson. If You Like Stephen Leather Books, You’ll Love…I Am Missing– When a young man wakes up bruised and beaten, with no memory of who he is or where he came from, the press immediately dub him ‘The Lost Man’. Naming himself Richard Kite, he spends the next 10 months desperately trying to find out who he is. But no one knows him. Richard’s last hope may be private investigator David Raker. But Raker has more questions than answers.

Confessions of a Bangkok Private Eye is a fictionalized account of Bangkok Private Eye Warren Olson’s experiences working there. Olson is fluent in the Thai and Khmer languages and walked the seedy side of the city where other P.I.’s did not. Stephen Leather Synopses: The standalone novel Private Dancer by Stephen Leather is about a man, Pete, who meets a pole dancer named Joy and falls in love. Pete winds up in a strange world of sex, drugs and deception and soon discovers that Joy is no joy at all, and rather, his own personal nightmare. Spelman, Judith (August 2008). "Judith Spelman Talks to a Best Selling Author Who Produces A Thriller A Year". Writing Magazine: 8–9. However, Nightfall's constant stream of dramatic events ended up being a double-edged sword. While it was hard for me to really get bored when big things kept happening every other chapter, I also got a little burned out on those "big" things about halfway through the book. It's kind of like the first time you go on a roller coaster...it's exciting and thrilling and loads of fun (to me, at least), but when you ride that same roller coaster for the tenth time, it's just not quite as good as it was the first time. You know where all of the drops and the sharp turns are, and there's not a lot left to surprise you, which is half the fun of the ride in the first place. This is kind of the way I felt about Nightfall by the end of the book. In a Sentence: Nightfall had a decent story line and made for an interesting read, but I could have used a little more suspense.

Made for TV movie based on the book written by Leather. Movie created, written, and produced by Leather

His first novel, Pay Off, was written while he was still employed at The Daily Mirror. [8] It was published from the " slush pile" at HarperCollins. The novel is a thriller about a merchant banker who takes revenge on two gangsters who killed his father. The book is set in Scotland, where Leather worked for five years on The Glasgow Herald as a business writer. Miller, Laura (1 January 2013). Nightshade– A farmer walks into a school and shoots eight children dead before turning the gun on himself. It’s a harrowing but straightforward case – until police search the man’s farm and unearth evidence of dark Satanic practices. When the perpetrator’s brother approaches Nightingale, adamant that his brother was set up, it’s clear that something even more sinister lurks at the heart of the case.a b c "Kindle gives thriller writer a plot for success – at 71p a shot". The Guardian . Retrieved 13 August 2012. CONTENT WARNING: suicide, rape, pedophilia, drug use, misogyny, religion, loss of loved ones, car accidents. Spook factor. It was properly ooky with all the stuff around him that made him isolated, afraid and unable to fight. Standard tropes. The rest was basic. Cop turned PI, everything going to hell around him and all he needs is a bit of booze and a girl to tell him he's so strong.
