The “Plexi sound” was so influential that it became the signature sound for Marshall, inspiring a lot of the company’s post-1965 production – here’s a video with a rather comprehensive overview of many different models belonging to the Plexi category. A lower price evolution of the MXR Dookie,” it’s based on Greenday’s Billy Joe Armstrong’s two custom Marshall 100w Plexi Super Lead amps. A center toggle switch offers mid punch, mid-scoop and a flat option. I initially wasn't going to bite on this pedal, but I made the mistake of listening to a couple demos/videos following the previous La Grange thread.

In fact That Pedal Show and Brett Kingman kind of jointly introduced me to and persuaded me to get my first Bogner - the Burnley Distortion - I believe I acquired that at a very similar time to my original variety of Suhr Riot. I decided to go for the Bubinga enclosure edition as I felt it was such a fantastic visual representation of its organic harmonic and resonant tonal profile (which somehow called to mind the natural resonance of wood!) - no doubt helped in some significant part by the onboard Rupert Neve Transformer.

I actually really like the new enclosure designs - in particular the fact that they're more compact. That design cannot however accommodate a Bubinga Faceplate in the same way the previous model did - so surely that options has passed - but on balance - the ergonomics of the new series are a definite improvement all-round - I feel they look more modern and more sleek overall.. If you take a look at the La Grange and compare the front panel to the other Bogner pedals you will notice a lot of similarities but inside there are plenty of differences. On the top you have all of the controls you would normally find on an amplifier with Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass and Gain as well as a separate Boost Volume control. By designing the pedal like an amplifier premp it lets you get a lot closer to the sound of the real amp. I bought this pedal for a covers gig of mainly marshall style guitar music. My amp is a Swart Atomic Space Tone Pro (6V6 tubes) and I wanted to get a mix of low gain to cranked Marshall sounds from it - it's a great amp but will not do the marshall thing by itself. I tried using a Sansamp GT2 which I had lying around but it just wasn't getting me there - far too scooped with no way near enough midrange. An independent boost function, with a level control, can be activated via it's own foot-switch to be either used as a stand alone boost, or together with the La Grange's main circuitry. Essentially two independent pedals, with the boost being in series after the La Grange!

A Plexi-style preamp-style overdrive that emulates both the preamp and the tube power amp stage of the venerable Marshall series, offering the classic sonic character on the entire gain spectrum, from piano-like cleans, bright overdrive, and sizzling lead tones, always delivering the Plexi’s signature sparkly midrange. Presence Switch: "h" is high, for a more open and bright tone. "L" is low for a more rounder tone with milder high frequencies The drive's charter and level of gain are set by the viscosity and opacity of liquids placed in its lidded bowl-like chamber. The pedal itself has only the single Volume control and footswitch - all other tonal characteristics are derived from the liquid/s employed. This is the second derivative of this format after the initial RevivalTrem pedal - which was the first Origin Effect to combine drive/preamp and modulation in the same unit. This time around the pedal is dedicated towards replicating the Magnatone Amp's output with that lovely Vintage Vibrato modulation. A full but natural-sounding high gain pedal with smooth high end and tight low end. Delivers hunky drive at lower gain settings and singing lead tones.I have acquired 13 of these to-date, and have the following 10 still under pretty intense active consideration : While the Vibrato controls are Intensity dial with 3-way Blend Switch, and Speed dial with 3-way Speed Multiplier toggle-switch. You have separate footswitches to engage Drive and Vibe. All the sizzle and spice and everything you love about Plexis in a cool looking pedal. The Preamp and Master gain act like they would on your favorite old British amp and give you a lot of different options for gain staging. This is also Andy from ProGuitarShop’s favorite Plexi-in-a-Pedal! The Bogner La Grange is an effects pedal that allows players to create the iconic 60s sound of British 'Plexi' amplifiers. The La Grange Pedal has an independent boost on-board, which can be used by itself via its footswitch, or it can be used with the main circuitry too. The boost can be controlled with its own knob, that adjusts the overall level of the effect. Other controls for the pedal, include Volume, Tone and Gain, as well as Channel Blend which simulates different channels of the amplifier. There are also 4 switches that offer increased flexibility for fine tuning your sound. The Gain switch lets players choose between medium, low and high gain, the Variac switch adds dynamic compression, Presence offers both high and low options, and finally Structure provides tight, fat or 'in the middle'. The Bogner La Grange features premium design and construction, with double sided gold-plated circuit boards, German WIMA and Japanese Nichicon capacitors, and Carling footswitches.

A pedal that responds well with a clean amp and gives you a classic distortion sound at a low price. The La Grange pedal is powered by a standard 9V battery or 9VDC regulated power supply. Reinhold’s advanced circuitry internally elevates the voltage to a substantially higher level. The higher voltage provides a greater dynamic range which closely resembles the feel of a real amplifier; therefore running the pedal above 9VDC will not improve dynamics and even can damage the circuit, therefore only use a regulated 9VDC power supply!A Japan-made JTM45 in a box with controls for Volume and Drive. It has controls for Volume and Drive, responds well to dynamics and can take a hotter input when preceded by a boost.

An affordable mini-pedal that nails the JCM 800 tone and offers a good amount of sculpting options through the Tone and Presence knobs. Premium construction with double sided gold-plated circuit boards, German WIMA & Japanese Nicicon Capacitors and Carling footswitchesA high gain Marshall-voiced pedal that actually excels at giving you the sound of a JCM 800. On a lower gain setting, it does sound like a Plexi, but it sounds like a really bright modern Plexi amplifier which is great for cutting through a heavy mix or a band with a lot of different instrumentation. Beyond the usual gain, volume and tone knobs, the La Grange touts some very cool tone shaping features. The variac switch is very powerful, taking the pedal from bright and snappy to brown and growly, compressing the front of the note hard in the process for a superbly chewy play feel. The structure will take you from wide open and loose to tight and muscular, and the presentation will help you keep the high end under control if you find yourself plugging into an amp that’s particularly bright.
