Pappademas, Alex (December 2004). "MF Doom: Our 2004 Profile". Spin. Archived from the original on 6 March 2021 . Retrieved 18 March 2021. However, there was also another release. MM.. Food is DOOM's second 'solo' album. I say 'solo' because a chunk of the album his instrumental and one song doesn't even feature him on the mic. This isn't to say it's any less of an album though. In fact it's my favourite of DOOMs 'solo' releases.

On the surface, MM.. Food is a concept album about food. Every song on here is titled after some sort of edible substance and the word food is sampled more times than you can count. The production on this album is fantastic and is probably the most refined out of DOOM's career. The sources are obscure and he even samples Frank Zappa at one point. Vote up content that is on-topic, within the rules/guidelines, and will likely stay relevant long-term. Rabin, Nathan (29 November 2004). "MF Doom: Mm.. Food?". The A.V. Club. Archived from the original on 31 December 2020 . Retrieved 5 April 2018. MF DOOM finally released a followup to Operation: Doomsday under the "MF DOOM" moniker with MM..FOOD in late '04. I say "finally" not because of the 5 year gap so much as the fact that there were a lot of LPs released in that time that were not credited to "MF DOOM" (Metal Fingers albums, Viktor Vaughn albums, two releases with MF Grimm, and of course the ubiquitous Madvillainy).DOOM Shares The Stories Behind Ten Of His Best Verses". The captivating opener Beef Rap sets the bar high, as DOOM's intricate rhyme schemes and food-inspired metaphors ignite the senses. The gritty production paired with DOOM's distinct flow lays the foundation for the album's lyrical brilliance.

MF DOOM, the maestro of lyrical complexity and enigmatic persona, serves up a creative and genre-defying masterpiece with his 2004 album, "Mmm...Food." With his unique approach to storytelling, sampling, and wordplay, DOOM crafts an album that not only transcends traditional hip-hop boundaries but also satiates the hunger for innovative and thought-provoking music. "Mmm...Food" showcases DOOM's unmatched artistic prowess, undeniably making it one of his most iconic works. So the prospect of a skit-filled mid-section of a(n under) 50-minute LP may sound grim, but it's not so bad. It's also counterbalanced with some of the best songs MF DOOM has ever done -- "Potholderz,""Deep Fried Frenz,""One Beer,""Rapp Snitch Knishes," etc. There are also some great collaborations here. "Potholderz" was a Count Bass D song that DOOM hopped on after the fact, and "Rapp Snitch Knishes" features Mr. Fantastik who should have done more work. All four guests put in great performances though. The B-side kind of just being a production playground, no rap, just chopped up samples that add to the albums theme, is a dope idea, but can feel like it stops the flow of the album. I appreciate it but most the time I just wish it went straight into Kon Karne, but on listens I do appreciate it, i’m glad it’s there.
