About this deal

I completely get not wanting unkillable bricks, but the army at higher levels did not win a ton with this strategy. Countless millennia of degradation have been rough, but with a bit of spring cleaning – that is to say, slaughtering the fleshy pests now infesting your domain – you can reap the rewards of its revitalised ancillary systems.

Let’s take a look at exactly what’s going to be spilling forth from the Tomb Worlds in the near future. Surprised how many people are saying the codex isn't much of an improvement over the index (at least as far as strength goes). Yeah I've read it was on the weaker end, but if there was ever a Necron army I would complete, it would be something with Flayed Ones.

This is one of my oldest standing armies, and I was going to continue working on my latest iteration regardless of mass hysteria. It’s almost odd that the Datasheets haven’t really changed, it almost feels like it’s not a new Codex at all! Time to build some army lists, and hopefully these will hammer home a theme here – Necrons generally have just that little bit more stuff to play with.

It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control them. The Lychguard aren’t gone entirely, however – at 85pts I think a smaller unit makes a fine escort for Imotekh, intended to be stashed on an objective on the mid-board and repel whatever tries to shift them. Better yet, a leader with the Osteoclave Fulcrum Enhancement can do the same, treating Strategic Reserves like an extradimensional taxi service for themselves and their bodyguard. Don’t forget that as well as getting Warriors in position to kill stuff, you can also use this for some extra reach before doing an Action-style objective.Aside from the Datasheets, the Detachments are probably one of the most important parts of the new 40k Codexes. Clad in self-repairing bodies of living metal, armed with weapons that harness the devastating energies of the cosmos, the Necrons are a terrifying enemy. The book makes a fantastic introduction to anyone who wants to collect the Necrons for the first time, but also veterans will find a fair bit of new content in here too. Units in Strategic Reserve can only come on from the board edges unless they have the Deep Strike ability (which in that case they can Deep Strike with the normal restrictions). Both books are very different in how they play, so let’s sit down, pull up a chair, and chit-chat a bit about what I like from each book.
